David grew up watching his father and grandfather work with wood, and he developed a love for building things. He decided to turn his favorite hobby into a career. “I began by fixing some leaky and stopped up toilets for friends,” he says. “Pretty soon I was being asked to fix things that were a little more advanced, like repairing rotten wood and replacing doors and windows. I learned a lot about fixing things so they would stay fixed.” In the repair and remodeling business, David learned a lot from the mistakes of others. “Now I build houses and try to avoid some of the most obvious problems that I have seen in other constructions.”
